The Qatar Fencing Federation has completed all preparations to host the Fencing Grand Prix Qatar 2022 Foil, organised by the International Fencing Federation (FIE) from January 28 to January 30 at Aspire Dome.
The event it will be held according to strict precautionary measures, with the participation of 304 player from 45 countries.
The Qatari national team is represented in the men's category by Muhammad al-Hazaa, Muhammad al-Olan, Mishaal al-Qahtani and Jaber al-Fadaq, and in the women's category: Zhikrayat al-Abdullah, Wadha al-Abdullah, Haya Diab and Sarah Diab.
President of the Qatar Fencing Federation and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the tournament Abdullah Ali Al Ghanim expressed his hope for success in hosting this edition to be added to the record of previous successes.
"We are pleased to host this great event on the land of Doha, the sports capital of the world, despite the great difficulties facing the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The Federation has made great efforts to hold the tournament under the full supervision of the Ministry of Public Health, in accordance with the precautionary measures, in order to ensure the safety of all," Al Ghanim said in a press statement.
The Fencing Grand Prix is one of the most important world championships hosted by the Qatar Weightlifting and Fencing Federation annually since 2004, and considered the best, and the top ranked players are keen to participate in it because its results are linked to points that have a significant impact on the global rankings of world stars.
