The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has issued a list of establishments and entities exempted from the decision taken in Wednesday's Cabinet meeting with regard to reducing the number of employees in the workplace across the private sector to 50%.
According to an infographic issued by the ministry on its Twitter page Saturday, pharmacies and clinics, factories, maintenance companies, food and subsidised supply retail outlets, e-commerce companies, catering companies, telecom companies, companies operating in State-run projects, bakeries, financial institutions licensed by Qatar Central Bank, restaurants (deliveries and takeaways), petrol stations, and logistic services companies and firms operating at seaports, airports and Customs services.
In a related infographic, the MoCI said "based on the decision of the Council of Ministers at its meeting on April 7, 2021, and within the framework of re-imposing Covid-19 restrictions and in the interest of the safety of all citizens and residents", it has been decided to reduce the number of employees and workers present in the workplace in the private sector to 50% of the total number of employees in each entity. The remaining workers will conduct their work remotely through the use of technical means.
All meetings of employees and workers in the private sector, who are working remotely, shall be held using modern technology and if this is not possible, and in case of necessity, the meeting shall be conducted with not more than five persons while taking into account the precautionary measures.
The MoCI reiterated that this decision came into effect on Friday and it is subject to amendment and updates according to developments in this regard. Any violation of the provisions of this decision exposes the violators to legal procedures, it added.
According to the Cabinet decision, the number of employees present at the workplace in government agencies was also reduced to 50% of the total number of employees in each entity from Friday, with the rest of the employees doing their work remotely from their homes or upon request, according to the circumstances, with the exception of the military, security and health sectors.
