The Social & Sport Contribution Fund (Daam) has been named the Supporter of Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines.
The 8th edition of the premier global equestrian event will be organised and hosted by Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, from February 25-27.
The Social Sport and Contribution Fund and Al Shaqab have agreed to support the development of equestrian sports in Qatar, particularly among youths. Daam’s involvement with Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines is in line with its vision to make a positive difference in the community by supporting social and sports activities while enhancing sustainable social development in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030).
Part of Qatar’s strategy of economic diversification is to become a global hub for sport, and the promotion of the sports industry, under the guidance of Qatar Olympic Committee, now plays a major role in achieving the goals of QNV2030.
Qatar has already developed a strong track record of organising and hosting international sporting events, starting with the 2006 Asian Games and continuing with competitions such as the IAAF World Athletics Championship.
The country firmly entrenched itself as the region’s sports capital when it won the bids for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the 20th FINA World Masters Swimming Championship in 2023, and the 2030 Asian Games
Created in 2013, Commercial Bank CHI Al SHAQAB Presented by Longines is one of five CHI competitions worldwide, and the first and only equestrian event of its kind in the Middle East and Asia region.
The three-day event will once again bring the world’s best riders and horses to Qatar to compete in the Olympic disciplines of Showjumping, Dressage, and Para Dressage.
The designation of CHI (Concours Hippique International – International Equestrian Competition) is the official title awarded by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) to international equestrian competitions comprising three or more equestrian disciplines.
The three magic letters make all the difference in the prestigious equestrian world.
