Women in business have continued to excel in their respective fields despite the challenges that arose at the onset of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and during the quarantine period, a top official of a Doha-based Qatari company said.
“We are all aware that the pandemic has made the whole world revise the existing strategies and policies in a diverse range of sectors, and business is no exception,” said Hissa K al-Suwaidi, the founder and chairperson of KON Group, during a recent virtual forum.
Al-Suwaidi pointed out that aside from the various corporate solutions the company offers, KON Group is also focusing on its ‘business diplomacy programme’, a partnership initiative with different embassies based in Qatar that aims to strengthen bilateral trade relations with different countries.
“Indeed, there is plenty to reflect upon; and this business diplomacy initiative enhances opportunities to virtually continue our hard work with our strategic partners and boost bilateral business relations,” said al-Suwaidi, citing the programme’s latest partnership with the United Republic of Tanzania.
“I would like to also highlight the important role played by businesswomen in Qatar and Tanzania during Covid-19 in terms of enhancing growth in several sectors. We are always looking to provide a platform to empower both countries’ businesswomen and to unlock the potential of future generations,” she continued.
Speaking earlier to Gulf Times, al-Suwaidi stressed that KON Group is keen to participate in the country’s economic development by serving as a bridge between companies in Qatar and their counterparts worldwide. While the company is small in terms of size, KON Group aims to inspire other Qatari businesses to emulate their initiatives, such as attracting more foreign direct investments into Qatar and investment opportunities, as well as forging different partnerships with other international partners.
This was reiterated by KON founder and chairman Mohamed R Massani, who stressed that the collaboration between the company and different embassies in the country would play a role in promoting trade and investments between Qatar and other countries.
“We envision making our business diplomacy partnership exemplary. Every member of the KON Group family is aiming, striving, and working hard to succeed and to take this exceptionally impeccable business collaboration with all embassies in Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the next level by the end of 2021,” Massani stressed.
Al-Suwaidi also added that one of the significant results of the recently-held ‘Tanzania Digital Business Forum’, which was organised by KON Group, was the creation of the Tanzania-Qatar Business Association.
Tanzanian ambassador Fatma Mohamed Raja said: “With KON as our strategic partner, the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania is intending to increase its trade volume by organising more investment forums to promote our country’s business climate.”
