A 6.1 magnitude earthquake jolted Surigao del Sur province in southern Philippines today morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the strong temblor struck 66 kilometers northeast of Bayabas town at 6:13 am local time.
It was tectonic in origin with epicentre off the waters of Bayabas in Surigao del Sur. Meanwhile, a magnitude 5.2 quake struck Davao Occidental on Sunday night.
The quake struck 41 kilometres northwest of the municipality of Don Marcelino and had a depth of 172 km.
