The General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), in co-operation with Al Shamal Municipality, removed around 124 tonnes of waste a day from the country's northern beaches during the Eid al-Adha holidays.
The department also increased the number of garbage containers across all beaches there in view of the large turnout of visitors in the holiday period, the MME said on Tuesday.
“Our teams worked round the clock and efforts still continue. Please use trash bins and don’t throw waste randomly," the MME tweeted.
