Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem) recently received certification on the latest ISO Standard for occupational health and safety management system – ISO 45001:2018, and re-certification on other internationally recognised standards.
ISO 45001 is the latest universally accepted ISO code, released in 2018, to help organisations improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks, and create better, safer working conditions.
Q-Chem is one of the few companies registered under American Chemistry Council (ACC), US, which is certified on both ISO 45001 and RC 14001.
Since inception, Q-Chem and the companies that it operates — Qatar Chemical Company II (Q-Chem II) and Ras Laffan Olefins Company Ltd (RLOC) — have been following best international standards in environment, health, safety, and security (EHSS).
As part of an ongoing commitment, the company has adopted an internal management system known as Operational Excellence (OE) System.
The ABS Group Inc – Quality Evaluations conducted an assessment on this OE management system and work processes against the requirements of applicable Responsible Care and ISO standards.
Q-Chem has subsequently successfully achieved the following accredited certifications, effective July this year;
n Certified on ISO 45001:2018, an ISO Standard for Occupational Safety and Health Management System (first-time).
n Re-certified on RC 14001:2015, an international standard for Responsible Care Management System.
n Re-certified on ISO 9001:2015, an ISO Standard for Quality Management System.
n Re-certified on ISO 14001:2015, an ISO Standard for Environmental Management System.
